Good dog

It's weird to me that people "like dogs".

I mean, isn't that a bit of a generalisation?  There are a lot of dogs in the world.  And I bet some of them are just plain mean.  They will pick on other dogs and steal their dinner and then pee on their face.

"Liking dogs" is probably highly offensive to those dogs who have been bullied by mean dogs.  Nobody wants to be lumped in with their oppressor.

I think a more accurate statement would be, "I like some dogs that I have met".

Rain or shine

I like rain.

I like the feeling of excitement when the air suddenly changes just before a downpour.

I like to sit inside and look out at the raindrops.

I like to walk in the rain.

I like going to sleep to the sound of the rain.

I like how the air feels when it's finished raining.  All sparkly and clean.

And I love how rain makes me so grateful for the moment when the sun comes out again.

Perhaps there are some deep and profound analogies I could draw from this moment.
But in that moment, I find I don't need the profound anymore.

All I need is that simple feeling of warmth on my face.  A sparkly clean little moment of gratitude.

That's what I like best about rain.

RWC 102: Punalty Kicks

Rugby is a tough sport.

The other players will drag you down, but you have to get up again, and keep on trying.

When it hurts.

When the odds are against you.

When others tell you it's impossible.

Just keep going.

A crutch

Some people say that religion is a crutch.  Something that people lean on when they're too weak to stand.

Not me.  I say a crutch is a crutch.  Something that people lean on when they're too weak to stand.

And I refuse to let a crutch be my crutch.

(Except when I'm too weak to stand.  Then it's actually quite helpful.)
